We were recently commissioned to draw at The Human Factor, a colloquium on the use of social sciences (such as anthropology and epidemiology) in the treatment of tropical diseases. The four day event in Antwerp gathered scientists from around the world and featured a special focus on the outbreak of Ebola in west Africa.

The brief slideshow above shows some of the multiple pieces of large artwork that we produced ahead of the event to use as subject signposting and large printed banners in the event venue. These pieces of At the Studio Illustration needed to be simple and powerful articulations of the subject and its implications.

The slideshow below carries examples of our In the Moment Drawnalism on paper from the many presentations that were delivered by the keynote speakers in plenary sessions and workshops during the four-day event.

We’ve been spending a lot of time in Belgium recently. While I was at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, Matt was in Brussels at the European Commission.
