To the museum of Faber Castell.

The nine generation family owned business is supplier of the finest* pencils in the world. Very many of them made in Stein in northern Bavaria in Germany.

I confess pencils are and always have been a bit of a preoccupation for me and this trip was a busman’s holiday amid a summer trip across the continent.

And while I am confessing things, the visit to the factory ( est. 1761) also meant that I was on a

Quest

…because I need to make a point with a writing implement.

Because it has a sharp point to help us when we are thinking with drawing or writing.

After nine generations of experience any Faber Castell mark maker is well developed and has had to adapt times to commercial, social and political and technological change.

If we cannot find inspiration in that story of endurance and excellence, what are we for.
