Coping mechanisms

Anniversaries

In March 2021 - at the first anniversary of the first national lockdown in the United Kingdom - we wrote a post looking back at the early effect of the COVID-19 Pandemic..

Now, with the Pandemic entering its third year, a major European war taking place in Ukraine and the ongoing challenge of climate change we thought it was time to have another look at how we are faring*.

* And, dare we mention Brexit, [ No, Ed ]

Back in that first year of lockdown we tried very hard to focus on the good news ( Seeking the Silver Linings ) though throughout Lockdown One it was not always possible.

To be honest, it got even harder as we went into Lockdowns two and three in the UK.

To answer our own question in that time, we were all feeling rather tired if grateful still all to be in one piece and functioning.

Coping mechanisms

Like many others we were forced to adapt we have been practising this and our use of coping mechanisms ever since.

  • The variety of relaxation even in our small team at Drawnalism is vast. Typically, we relax by;

    • walking

    • running

    • gardening

    • socialising ( socially distanced of course )

    • exercising

    • reading

    • watching, playing and listening to media of all sorts

    • And enjoying the periodic sight of the weather improving. ( We are, after all, based in the UK! )

You will be familiar with many of these techniques yourself.

We are still all very fortunate to live in a basically happy, wealthy and well resourced part of the world. We always try and remember that too especially that it is not so easy or justifiable to travel the world in the ways that we once did.
