Guest post: Digital Newcastle

The Digital Newcastle programme is large and broad ranging — covering a range of projects and initiatives relating to digital connectivity and infrastructure, city innovation, supporting the local tech economy, skills and transforming public service delivery. It became clear quite early on that explaining the programme; the scope but also the way in which different activities interconnect — was becoming increasingly challenging.

Working with Drawnalism has allowed us to visually show our Digital Newcastle programme as a connected ecosystem, in a colourful, imaginative and engaging way. We were all in awe of Alex’s ability to take our spoken word and transform it into art in front of our eyes — in fact, developing the picture was also a great team building experience.

Sharing our ‘digital picture’

Feedback has been fantastic — so much so that we commissioned our second iteration earlier this year to reflect progress and change. Our ‘digital picture’ has been shared around the country and internationally — I certainly haven’t delivered a presentation without the picture in the last two years – and it’s always the slide that gets people snapping a picture on their phone and tweeting it! Even my partner has taken to saying:

You’re not showing that picture again are you?!

Yet another presentation

I couldn’t recommend Drawnalism enough. It has really transformed our ability to share our Digital Newcastle story.
