Where the world helps itself get better

Keen followers of the Drawnalism blog will know we have worked with the WHO Universal Health Coverage Partnership (or UHC-P for short) on a number of occasions - we’ve drawn at their meetings in Brussels in 2017 and in Geneva in 2019 - so it was nice to be asked back to draw at this year’s UHC-P Global Meeting, a three day event held to coincide with UHC Day on 12 December 2024 at the Centre de Congrès in Lyon, France.

Having previously been asked to create the logo for the UHC Partnership, and subsequently turn this into an actual design for an umbrella, this time we were asked to create a short animated video from the logo to explain the aims and achievements of the Partnership since it’s creation in 2011.

This year’s event marked another change for our contribution. Previously we’ve drawn on paper, but since Covid we’ve transitioned to working entirely digitally, so the artwork was created in pixels on a tablet, and shared with the delegates via the large screens during the event.

Finally, those umbrellas made another appearance this year - the design has been tweaked slightly to introduce a darker blue, and here it is alongside other items from this years event - tote bags and water bottles. Sadly, my other umbrella, a larger golf-sized one, was taken from me at security at Lyon airport on my return home.
