The PhDs are quick as AI
Translating bleeding edge research about Artificial Intelligence into understandable, practical use is a big challenge.
It is also essential so that people better understand how the fast developing technologies can and will help people, the economy and society.
We were asked to help translate for more than 100 University of Southampton MINDS CDT students as part of their annual meeting which focused on real-world impact of their research.
Each contributing PhD student delivered a 10-minute presentation on their research directly to an audience of their peers followed by questions from the attendees.
And while we were listening to them present we were very much working against the clock!
We worked in a pair one recording live and one cleaning, colouring and tidting the preceeding presentation as quickly as possible.
We worked digitally for the best speed and used some pre-prepared templates for the order of the speakers following the agenda. This was because - as you can imagine - these sessions came thick and fast!
